Medical Mobility Scooter Lifts

Medical Mobility Scooter Lifts

Need a lift to carry your mobility scooter with you?

Scooter Lift Options:

Scooter lifts and scooter carriers can assist you in taking your mobility scooter in your vehicles. Scooter lift choices range from mechanical solutions (like the E-Z Carrier models) to fully-assisted power models where you do nothing more than push a button (like the SilverStar Backpacker).

Some scooter carriers,  carry your scooter attached to a hitch on the back of your vehicle (like the Harmar Wheelchair Lift), while other scooter lifts, lift your mobility product into the trunk of your car or back of your van. Our experts can help you to find the right scooter lift or scooter carrier that will work best for your type vehicle, your mobility scooter and your physical abilities.

Common Questions

How can I make sure the lift will work with my vehicle and my scooter?
Call our expert staff and tell us your vehicle make, model, and year, and the scooter you plan to lift. We can tell you if the combination will work. If you place your order online, the site will ask you for your vehicle and scooter or wheelchair information during the ordering process, and our team will make sure the combination works before your order is shipped.

How do I install my lift?

Installing Manual Scooter Lifts:
Most manual wheelchair and scooter lifts can be installed yourself. Manual lifts, like the EZ Carrier line, slide into a hitch on the back of your vehicle. Need a hitch? SpinLife recommends using U-Haul for hitch installation (click here to visit the U-Haul Hitch site).

Installing Power Scooter Lifts:
Electrically-powered wheelchair and scooter lifts may require drilling into the trunk or storage space of the vehicle, or wiring the unit directly to the car battery, so SpinLife recommends that a reputable auto mechanic or U-Haul location install the power car lifts. One exception is the BackPacker lift from Silver Star. It easily attaches to the third-row seat hardware in many mini-vans, and can be operated using a rechargeable battery, making it a snap to install yourself. Also, all Silver Star Wheelchair and Scooter Lifts by Pride Mobility include the option of Expert Nationwide Installation, and SpinLife will coordinate the entire installation process.

Exterior lifts plug into a corresponding hitch receiver, including Class I for up to a 200 lb. capacity lift, Class II for up to a 350 lb. capacity lift, or Class III for up to a 500 lb. capacity lift. (It's important to note that the vehicle's hitch receiver does not come with the lift, and must be already installed on the vehicle.)

  • Boom lifts typically require minimal installation by bolting to the vehicle's floor
  • Interior platform lifts mount using existing points, requiring no modification to the vehicle in most installations
  • For power, lifts either features a universal electrical connector that mates with the hitch's existing light connector, or are entirely self-contained with a rechargeable battery pack that powers the lift, where a vehicle plug is not needed.

Note: Although most lifts feature very practical do-it-yourself installation, many are also available with optional nation-wide installation, where a skilled technician will come to your residence to professionally install the lift for you.
